PE and Sports Premium

What is the PE and Sports Grant?

The PE and Sports Grant is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to improve physical education and sports in Primary schools. This money can only be spent on sport and PE provision.

Each school receives £16,000 and £10 per pupil based on the school census data.

How does this affect and impact on The Chalet School?

The Sports Premium is used within The Chalet School to support the engagement and achievement of all pupils, following our inclusive ethos.

The principles underlying our use of this grant are that we want:

All pupils to engage with movement and physical activity in ways which ensure that they benefit from their education in all senses
That the staff working with our children are as highly skilled in teaching sports and physical development as possible
That we endeavour to provide a wide variety of sporting and physical activities to all our pupils.

Over the last year, we have used funding to invest in equipment that supports the engagement of all pupils in physical activity. This has included using funding to:

Upgraded the playground spaces through the development of a horticultural space so that pupils can develop their motor skills to build their team building, stamina and resilience
Purchase of equipment to promote a range of physical activities during play times and PE lessons.
Purchase equipment to engage all pupils with physical activities focused on developing fine motor skills in resource rooms around the school.

The school continues to offer a range of additional activities such as movement sessions in school and access to the indoor soft play areas.

Schools can choose to use the Primary PE and Sport Premium to provide additional provision for swimming but this must be for activity over and above the national curriculum requirements. Have you used it in this way?	Yes

Future plans - 2023/2024 Spending

Plans for 2023-24 include:

Continuing with movement sessions in school and access to the indoor soft play areas
Further develop inter-school competitive sports events including participation with regional events
Continue to source external providers to deliver one-off experiences in a variety of different areas
